Course Overview

Today audio-visual is one of the most important forms of communication in the digital world we live in. By learning this very important skill, students will be able to create short films for their projects enhancing their presentations, making them more effective. Mobile phone is a very powerful device that can be easily used to make films. This course teaches students to make their films on their own mobile phones in zero budget, negating the need for expensive camera and equipment. Additionally, this course also has sessions to teach video editing on computers.

Hands-on practical sessions

  • Editing with the trainer on a previously shot video. Using the tools to prepare a shot line-up, cutting the video in the story format, adding tracks, mixing the video tracks, adding music, mofifying the video and music, using croma key

Dr. Mangesh Karandikar

Dr. Mangesh Karandikar


Dr. Mangesh Karandikar has over 30 years experience in media.
He started his career in marketing of pharmaceuticals and then in electronic products. He got introduced to computers in 1990, which took him on an exhilerating career journey.
He started his business with graphic designing and printing. When people were wondering what Internet was, he learnt and started his web designing business and made several website. He then learnt programming in C, C++, Java, Oracle and Visual Basic, and started another venture in interactive CD ROMs.
This introduced him to filmmaking. He assisted several filmmakers and then ventured into a very successful filmmaking business, specializing in Corporate Films.
On invitation, he started teaching in the University of Mumbai, where he realised that he had found his calling in the field of teaching. He joined the University of Mumbai's Department of Communication and Journalism, and started Web Designing and Filmmaking in the University in 2005. He earned his doctorate in media and communication in 2013. Dr. Karandikar then moved from the University into private service and recently has returned to the world of business having taken a very early retirement from service as Director, MET Institute of Mass Media. He has taught more than 2000 media students the art of sound editing completely free of cost, more than 200 entrepreneurs, 150 school children, and over 200 educators the skill of filmmaking during the last year, helping them utilize their time effectively, and imparting an additional skill that is useful life-long.
